Celestica Selects Tanisys' DarkHorse Sigma-3 to Test
100MHz SDRAM Modules

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Tanisys Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: TNSU - news), a leading supplier of memory
test equipment under its DarkHorse® Systems brand, today announced that Celestica Inc. (NYSE: CLS - news), one of the
world's largest suppliers of memory modules, has selected the DarkHorse SIGMA-3™ as its newest tester of 100MHz
SDRAM memory modules. DarkHorse has already delivered the first SIGMA-3 system for Celestica's test operations.

''We are delighted with Celestica's selection of our test equipment. Having another of the world's largest suppliers of computer
memory modules select the SIGMA-3 continues the strong endorsements of our tester architectures,'' said Chuck Comiso,
Tanisys CEO and President. ''Many prospective customers are evaluating the SIGMA-3 by performing correlation studies
against their existing testers. These prospective customers are consistently finding the SIGMA-3 detects defective memory
modules comparable to the multi-million dollar testers from Advantest, Hewlett-Packard and Teradyne.''

''We carefully evaluated the SIGMA-3 and find that it offers very good test capability and compatibility at an extremely
attractive price which is a prime consideration in maintaining our competitive position,'' said John Sloan, Vice President of the
Memory Solutions Business Unit at Celestica. ''The other factors we found attractive about the SIGMA-3 include lead time,
scalability and engineering support requirements.''

''Celestica is one of the world's ten largest manufacturers of memory modules,'' said Sherry Garber of leading market research
firm Semico Research. ''The DarkHorse memory tester continues to gain market acceptance among both large and small
memory suppliers.''

''Celestica was also influenced by the fact that DarkHorse could provide a full line of automation equipment in addition to
testers,'' said John Bennett, Vice President of Sales for Tanisys. ''They like the fact that we supply machinery to automate
many phases of their manufacturing and test operations and provide a single source of support and service. Customers also
appreciate our upgrade path to Direct Rambus and other future memory standards, unlike some much more expensive test
solutions which have no upgrade path.''

The SIGMA-3 is the first affordable tester for the new 100MHz architecture memory modules shipping to customers. The
SIGMA-3 is designed for module manufacturers, OEMs, memory suppliers, PC manufacturers, system integrators and others
needing to test 100 MHz memory modules. SIGMA-3 has an upgrade plan to Direct Rambus and other future memory
architectures to permit customers to leverage their investment over time. The system has moveable timing edges on all controls,
AC parametric testing, and an easy-to-use Microsoft Windows interface to easily identify module configuration, perform tests
and display results.

The SIGMA-3 operating software features data logging and report generation, a device graphics editor, a waveform editor and
user-definable operator and test levels. Companion handling, labeling equipment and adapters are available to fit most test
applications.
