Iraq-Russia-Forces Moscow

''I cannot confirm or deny this information. The forces are engaged in planned military
exercises and are ready to implement any order by the president and commander-in-chief,''
the Defence Ministry spokesman said.

Interfax gave no details of precisely what or how many units were involved. It said there
were no changes in the readiness of Russia's strategic nuclear arsenal.

The Kremlin had earlier declined to comment on Russian news agency reports that military options were among subjects
discussed by Yeltsin and Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev, who called off a trip to NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Moscow has harshly criticised the U.S.-British strikes. The State Duma lower house of parliament passed a resolution calling
the attacks ''international terrorism.''
