Another factor was the threat of a planned competing technology Microsoft had called WinATM, which would let users pay bills and perform other functions. Never heard that term before...WinATM? How's it work, get a server in every bank so you call 'poll' the server over the internet via Windows for a real time account and transaction history without ever leaving Windows? Weren't they giving free servers away, or was that Ice Cream Cones? I can't remember... If so why would you even need to go to a Bank Site with something configured that way? If that's the way it's configured....like and ATM.
