My files on the MSS industry go back to the beginning of 1995 and are 3 feet thick. I've never done as much due diligence as with this industry, and it has been rewarded with a backlog of knowledge that has kept me from selling when the market for MSS stocks drops. You are right to investigate thoroughly. What I can say is that the barriers to entry in the MSS field are enormously high (obtaining spectrum, raising money, contracting launches, building satellites, launching satellites, obtaining country licenses, raising MORE money, building phones, writing software with millions of lines of code, testing, testing, testing...then marketing and making customers happy. These barriers will limit the field for global satellite telephony to just a few companies, yet demand is such that industry consultants believe annual revenue will be between $30-40 billion by the year 2007.

As an investor in, AND a consumer of, IRIDIUM technology, my opinion is that they are the MSS equivalent of Rolex and Coca Cola - a first class, professional organization with a superior product. But DO NOT take my word for it. READ, ANALYZE, CRITIQUE and listen to people who are smarter than I am...

As usual, I apologize for the length of my post.

Jack,

Thanks for your information. I hope you don't mind if I use you to learn a little bit more. After I come up with some reasonably intelligent questions, I will throw them your way.
