Mary:

Ike was in Kuwait when the republican guard attacked last time. He probably knows the mideast people better than americans do. IMO The Clinton argument pro and con should be over in the coffee shop (unless its impacting the market).

Of course I'm trying to head off a heated discussion on this subject.

Happy holidays.

Tim

The nation's get leadership what they deserve, don't get heart burns for Iraq the only time Iraqi's stand against a leader is when after a coup his body is thrown by the new dictator on the streets of Baghdad it is then dragged for days- Have you heard of Karim Kasim- Arif? This is the recent history- let me take you back a little further--

The Shia sect Islam find it roots in historic betrayal of Prophet's Grandson at a place call Karbila- a district in Iraq, he was invited by the 'Karbilites' as heir apparent and was promised Imamate and total loyalty by the people of Governorate of what is now Iraq and Syria. Upon reaching Karbila he was betrayed by the very same people who promised him their undying alliance, he was mercilessly killed alongwith his entire family including woman folk that was the end of the'family of prophet'-- the only living off-shoot who escaped the horrific end was Zain-ul-abidin- the great grand son of Prophet.

It is a known fact in Muslim Arab contemporary history that like the people who crucified 'Christ' were denied a home for hundred of years the people who betrayed the 'House of Hashim' would never find a just ruler.. Iraq fwiw by history may be going thru that curse.. just an opinion.. nothing concrete. People who don't want to live in chains have to break the chains..they need to yearn for democracy and freedom, utopic I may sound but freedom and democracy will only come if despots are dealt with iron fist..

I take honor in your comments but my market and strategic thinking originates from history, I live in history and history tells me never appease a despot. Those who did that like Chamberlane are a footnote to history whereas Churchill will live forever until heroic deeds and courage remain folklore of human society.
