From Discover Brokerage: In order to reduce exposure to our customers and our firm, the Discover Brokerage Credit Committee is evaluating and adjusting the maintenance requirements for certain volatile stocks. The first phase of this development will begin on December 16, 1998. At that time the initial list of stocks shown below will be subject to revised margin requirements. As subsequent adjustments to our margin policies will be announced shortly, please be sure to check this area periodically for updates. Review of margin requirements on volatile stocks is quickly becoming the norm in our industry and we hope to protect Discover Brokerage and its customers with these measures. Margin maintenance requirements are set by the rules and regulations of the New York Stock Exchange and other regulatory agencies. Individual firms may and often do increase the requirements at their own judgement and discretion. Margin maintenance requirements may change without prior notice.
