Annoying: People who attempt to rewrite history.

>>I was SO looking forward to the impeachment process for that fellow who hired a band of burglars to break into the hotel room,

Nixon's offense was committing the cover up, not the original crime. He didn't even know about the break-in until after the fact. He didn't hire anyone unless you're referring to Erlichman and Halderman as "a band of burglers" who broke into a hotel room.

At least Nixon was recognized and respected for his statesmanship, before and after his demise. Slick's most notable characteristics are his libido and his cavalier attitude toward the rule of law. To Wit: the former resigned and spared the country the embarrassment of a Senate trial; the latter continues to perpetuate his lies with his non-answer answers and non-denial denials, thus forcing the congress to impeach.

Nope. One of 'em was a crook(literally, I think)and the other escaped justice the same way your guy probably will. Once the press rescinded the historical presidential privilege and replaced it with investigation and sensationalism, none of them are safe.

Now that they have exposed Thomas Jefferson, I guess George Washington and all the others all the way to William Jefferson Clinton are suspect.

Like I said earlier, I could have forgiven your guy if he had the guts to admit it, then tell 'em to stick it, so he could get back to work. But no, he dis-sembled, evaded, mumbled, and yes, outright lied to cover his ass and wasn't even thorough enough at it to succeed.

I will forever believe that the current attack on Iraq (though well deserved) was improperly influenced by impeachment considerations.
At least Nixon had the good taste to resign when it was obvious that he had lost the game.

And that's what it is.... a game. but I said I wouldn't do long posts again. I'm outta' here. If you feel like you must respond to defend again your president and your position, Please do not hesitate, but the persistence of people who can tolerate almost any slimy act by their elected chosen representatives eventually wear down those of us who are optimistic that there are good leaders out there.

So, we leave the contest to you and yours. You may well win. He could stay. You deserve each other.
