You are right about the limping. That it is protective, and that we cling to them after we don't need them. My knees swell up now and then, but not as much as they did before I capitulated to prednisone. I developed the technique of going down the stairs in my house by leaning my weight back against the wall and kinda sliding. Then I notice that when I went down the stairs in the morning, everyone was watching to see if I was stepping, or sliding. So I quit sliding unless I really have to. I had just got into the habit . . .
