One should start thinking about SANs in terms ofs a combination hardware and software. Your point is very good in that there has been a lot of software related activity lately, we will next probally see a flurry of hardware activity. The key should be when we start hearing about integrated solutions that combine hardware and the software for usefull solutions as opposed to the point product positioning we are seeing now. The mention of the XIOTECH solution is interesting in that it is now well funded for a startup, should they strike an OEM deal they could be well positoned however they are also in a NT centric world/game that would pit them against all of the other NT solutions that also can play in the enterprise and Unix types of environments.
