do you really think long term investors should be on the trigger to that extreme?
Your choice. I see no reason to ride out a bad earnings report in AOL or Dell, they would take 2-3 years to come back. Simply move the money to Cisco or Microsoft. I have my major money in a 401K that I control, since I own the Company, so I have no tax problem on buying and selling.
I have been split equally between Micosoft, Dell, Cisco, and AOL. I sold half of my Dell on Monday and doubled my Microsoft. I believe it is due for a 30 point jump, at least, and will double by this time next year. I am not totally positive, of course, that is why I still have it split up!

Well, Dell has only been flat for a few weeks. IMHO, it was the Compaq direct news that has spooked the market more than missing the whisper number. Like you, I'm staying long Dell. Long AOL as well. This Xmas season the web will outdo the projections -- (at least if my own online purchases are any indication). AOL and others should benefit.

Craig

DELL was my largest holding in my portfolio until about a month ago. I had DELL for about two years now and I was very happy. However, in about a month ago, I felt that it is a time to lighten up DELL. So, I sold half of my DELL and bought YHOO and AMZN (lucky me) and I am very pleased with my move. I agree with you that LT investors should not quickly switch stocks, but in these days of instant information, I think it is very important to recognize a certain trend. DELL is a very good and solid company, but its price stagnation last already about two months and other tech stocks are rocketing up. Typical DELL heads (I was one of them) are simply too stubborn. I see all the early price patterns of DELL in AOL. B.J.
