FUZFO, You just described almost every country in the Middle East including Israel (excepting Dubai which doesn't bother with politics but parties 24 hours/day, and Abu Dhabi which is really just one giant fab yard for the Gulf's Energy industry). Remember in the 1973 Yom Kippur War Israel attacked our spy ship off the coast of Lebanon. And there are territorial disputes all over the Middle East- Turkey/Iraq, Kuwait/Iraq, Iran/Iraq, Yemen/UAE, Kuwait/Saudi Arabia, Israel/Palestine, Lebanon/Syria, etc.

Middle Eastern politics are hopelessly confused. If you have the time read the records of Hadrian the Famous 2d Century Roman Military Emporer. He flat out gave upon the Middle East and pulled all Romans military and administrative support from the area except for two Legions.

For example do you know that Israel now has over 200 functional nuclear devices? Would you be shocked if I told you that Israel does not store all of its nuclear devices in Israel but actually stores them in a couple of other nearby Middle Eastern countries???

If you are familiar with nuclear warfare,a nuclear device (fission or fusion) throws out a huge electromagnetic impulse upon detonation- i.e. it fries all electric circuits that are not shielded and stops most equpment dead in its tracks.

Well that "freeze 'em in place, then finish 'em off" strategy won't work with Israel, since many of their nuclear devices are not in Israel. Now Iraq is working through the Sudanese "Leadership" with the Islamic Jihad in Egypt and the Al Qadaa Organization of Bin Laden. Do you know that Bin Laden's group has already tried two retalitory raids against US interests in Europe in the last six weeks both of which have been foiled? So if Saddam gets nuclear devices, then they get nuclear devices- think about that.

Also think about the fact that Israeli retalitory capability cannot be "taken out" with a nuclear strike on Israel. That adds up to a glum scenario to me...

But on oil prices don't worry about Saddam or Iraq- focus instead on the first signs of economic recovery in Asia....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
