not true. it is rank speculation about 1999 and 2000 earnings, coupled with excessive amounts of greenspan cash, that is driving this stock. if liquidity stops then - poof. if the rank speculation stops - poof. all the way down to the teens.

when the slow boats figure out that pcs aren't selling very well to end customers then that should end the absurd gambling here and elsewhere, imho. h1 99 will be very interesting.

I think you have a valid point -- people buying now have to be looking "over the valley" -- the problem is, with earnings may come the news that the Company, or other Companies that are reporting shortly (remember AMAT doesn't mince words much -- they will tell the truth instead of painting a rosy picture if things are not picking up), don't really know how wide or deep the valley is ... I think the valley is considerably wider and that the economy as a whole will slow. This will be a 1-2 punch to the recent rise in the share price, IMO.
