Rande Is..

Broadband Wireless last mile is in my opinion the
"next" big thing .. FCC supposedly won't allow
local telco and local cable to own this slice
of spectrum otherwise known as LMDS in their own
service markets..though they can acquire licences
in others..In the 28-31 GHz band.. there are still
some technical things to work out..basically line
of sight and potential signal loss in heavy rain
areas..won't be coming to Seattle anytime soon !!

CVUS had FCC pioneer license in this area, but
suffered from hopeless management and lack of funding..
One of the bells bought in to kill it a couple of
years ago..The service can simultaneously handle
voice, data, video and FCC was allocating a full
1000 HTz per license..thats alot of band-width..
people were calling it 'fiber in the sky' at the
time.

There is also an opportunity to provide high
speed wireless ISP service in the 900 MHz
band that..get this..is FCC license free..
anyone with the $$ and know how can offer service
in this bandwidth. I view this "free" bandwidth
as a potential competitor to the ARTT/WCII types
on cost as the other guys have to recoup the cost
of their spectrum when pricing their services..

Jim in CT..A wireless ISP wanna be..
