<< He should have known that the Clinton dirt diggers would be all over him, looking for anything. >>

You are complaining because he got caught, not for what he did? Do you want your speaker to be a man that cheats on his wife, betraying his family?

Are you not glad that this was found out before he becomes speaker of the House, and has to represent the Republican Party Platform on Family Values?

This breaks my heart. And here I was thinking about voting Republican, next time, because of their stand on Family Values!

It does make the Republicans look rather foolish here.

Unfortunately most people don't look for outstanding moral authority in their leaders.

Generally physical appearances and charm sway the masses.

And look what we get.

alan, just to make this clear, the Roll Call guy who broke this story said that it was in fact the bounty that Larry Flint (of Hustler fame) offered as a reward to anybody who could deface any republican that initiated this story. Flint has 4 sources on Livingstone, or he has verified 4 women I didnt quite hear what was said. Flint (who I suspect is a fairly savvy business person) was about to break the story - obviously he chose the most opportune moment to do so. The point is, this was not "Clinton dirt diggers" who dug this up. It was a third party citizen who might indeed posess questionable morals himself but was obviously disturbed by this hatchet job on Clinton (I suspect Flint was probably a republican himself before this too).

According to Dee Dee Myers, now the question is, "what are the background of these women, did Livingstone ever do them any favors etc" - how much do you want to bet he did? Know why I think that? Because they bit at Flynts offer (which they knew would destroy Livingstone) for money.

I agree Livingstone was a fool not to consider this climate before he threw his hat in the ring. Im sure he wanted the speakership so badly he deluded himself that he could get away with it... I feel sorry for the guy actually.
