(oooops, ran out of time due to phone call.....here's the WHOLE THING) Hi Folks, As an addenda to the information I shared about water treatment systems and technologies, I thought I'd re-post this portion of the recent LGOV news release. << Renewable Resources Inc. and LGOV are in final negotiations for the exclusive marketing and distribution rights of water filtration systems in the People's Republic of China. This low-cost water filter with the ability to treat and kill germs will be introduced into China during the first quarter of 1999. The filter has been tested and approved for treatment of some of the most notoriously contaminated water in the world. The filter system will retail at approximately 1/2 of the least expensive water filter currently available in China. Most filters do not have germ treatment capability. The filter will treat approximately 2000 gals. and save the customer approximately 3900 RMB/$500 USD over available systems. Filters will need periodic replacement and will also be available at a low cost. Largo Vista will introduce the filters to their existing LPG customers and to LPG pipeline customers and other distribution networks of which Largo Vista is a part of in China. Sales demand is projected to exceed production capacity quickly. This will lead to eventual manufacturing of the filter housing in China while continuing to import the patented filter from the United States. ******************************************* The germ-stopping/killing capability of the above noted filters is critically important, the more remote the area. Here in the USA, water treatment facilities are licensed or government operated facilities - with licensed operators, chemists and engineers. In addition, the facilities are operated in conjunction with procedures and directives set by the AWWA (American Water Works Association). Failure to operate the facilities properly can result in severe negative publicity, as well as severe criticism and penalties imposed by the monitoring authorities. The point, it is unlikely your going to ingest "bad water" - unless there is a severe disruption, flood, etc. Home filter systems that you might purchase at discount, hardware or plumbing stores, are generally activated charcoal filter media based; some having low density secondary media that will stop particles in the micron range. They are a good idea, but the filter cartridges need to be replaced every so often - or you can begin growing your own bacteria in your own filter. A filter with germ killing capability (internal ultraviolet lamps, etc.) would terminate the germs that would be simply stopped by a typical filter. Dead "critters" are abviouly a lot better than ones that could become a problem if you started a collection of them in the media. This business effort will be a true "service" to the people of China, and truly raise their standard of living. It's also going to make a lot of "repeat" money per the old Procter & Gamble philosophy: basic products or a consumable nature. John :-)
