gmccon, Actually most of Iraq's neighbors probably like to see Iraq weakened- Turkey, Syria, Iran, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia for various reasons. The big battle brewing in the Middle East IMO is the battle for water. Population growth rates are too high in the Middle East, outstripping available water supplies, and the ability to emigrate (whether legally or illegally) to Europe and the USA is fading...He who controls the flow of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers controls the Middle East. So a non-Arabic Country Turkey looks to be the "best bet" on that basis to be a long term heavyweight power in the Middle East. The fundamentalists have already been practicing "dry runs" in attacking a major American Eastern Seaboard or European City- most likely with biological weapons- easier to tote around and hide than a nuclear weapon. Not sure what the response of the attacked country would be. Just be assured that our intelligence reach into the Middle East can only be described as "outstanding". How do you think we found out the time and location of the meeting that Bin Laden was attending in Afghanistan? BTW a simple good partial protection is to have positive flow displacement of the air flow in your house-i.e. a positive air pressure in your house so that air goes out when youopen the door- acommon technique in refineries in control buildings. If you remember I believe that in 1975 President Ford eliminated the Presidential Order that allowed the CIA, NSA, or OSS (know who they are?)to be involved in assassination attempts on foreign leaders, a policy that arose out of WWII efforts to get rid of Adolf Hitler. So it is against our law to seek out and go after Saddam Hussein. On the other hand Saddam could have ended this whole thing in 1991 if he just hande dover the weapons capability. Instead now he has spread it even to Sudan and Libya- not two particularly stable places.... Sincerely, Doug F.
