Good post, JL. Amazing how when some people try to present another point of view, which may not be in the opinion of the majority or is not what the audience wants to hear, they attack the messenger.

Immature Kings in the past used to shoot messengers who brought bad news.

Similarly, strong individuals sometimes get lambasted for their independent, innovative, different, and maverick thinking just when that is what society and companies need the most.

The Bolidon Mines Tailing Dam Disaster in Spain could have been avoided had the company adopted the findings in a report written by an engineer that the company had hired to provide a review on the condition of the ponds. He recommended that millions be spent on shoring them up/redesigning them because they were at risk of letting go. (according to the Globe and Mail) The employee was fired for the report. We all know what happened.

Engineers warned that the O-Rings on the Space Shuttle Challenger were not appropriate for their service and recommended that launch be scuttled. The concerns/recs were overruled. We know what happened. The fellow went public on speaking engagements and was black balled from the aeronautical industry.

Be a skeptic, ask lots of questions, sell when the price is highest and the volume is highest, that is a sure way to keep your hard earned dollars. It doesn't mean that you are a pessimist, quite on the contrary.... a mature realist.

Regards,

Mike
