I like wacky, There is nothing so wacky as the plain simple truth.

And except for the ugly blight in the white house, the world is a beautiful place and I never do anything to pervert the sences in my body. Well I do like coffee.

If quad zeons cost 20k, thay would pose a serious threat SGI unix platforms. At 3k or 6k or 10k they are far more serious.

Does a quad zeon have more compute power than 90% of all systems shipped by SGI in 1997. 90 IS A WAG. PLEASE INFORM ME.

What percentage of systems shipped be SGI have more compute power that a single zeon system.

Compute power is not the be all and end all of why someone buys a system. But it does play a role. As a systems and test engineer, it's my highest weighted predictor. Shall we say 40 %

applications are applications
OSes are OSes

More compute power makes the inferior look better. the less efficient viable. This is not religion, this is common sense.

Another rule to live by. If you cannot claim 3db or better, the claim is marketing hype. Price-Performance. = Gain-Bandwidth . Oh, the - is a hyphen in the previous equation.

The GOSPEL according to Tom Watson. The Silicon Investor official Wacky MarketZoid N-Gin-Ear.

I wish to thank all the august members of SI for bestowing on me the Titles of Wacky and MarketZoid. Humbly Tom Watso.
