Two fundamental things are pushing VTSS higher and higher:

1. As more and more people move to cable and ADSL, multimedia, video-on-demand and other applications put higher and higher pressure on backbone, and backbone traffic will continue to expand geometrically.

2. Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Fibre Channel, and DWDM are offering higher and higher bandwidth (as high as 2.5-10 Gbps) for WAN, MAN, and enterprise networks.

VTSS's chips will be found moving from WAN to MAN, and even down to people's desktop in not so remote future.
