Sinclair is an ownership group...........................

tvbroadcast.com

Sinclair began digital broadcasting on its WBFF-TV and WNUV-TV stations--Baltimore's Fox and WB affiliates, respectively--on their assigned digital channels on February 27. As the nation's first multi-station, multichannel DTV broadcaster, Sinclair hopes to use WBFF-TV and WNUV-TV as examples of the many options created when two or more stations work together to deliver a wide variety of programming and services to the public. In essence, it hopes to create a "mini-cable" system that offers a diverse package of digital programs.

The channel assignments, granted by the FCC, each carry several programs concurrently in the SDTV format. Each channel is transmitting six simultaneous programs, where three programs are encoded and broadcast in realtime, and three programs are spooled from a media server.

Project management and system integration for the demonstration was provided by Comark Digital Services. Other partnering companies and equipment vendors included: DiviCom; Dolby; Force, Inc.; Leitch; Panasonic; SCALA; and Tektronix.
