Brent,

RE: What's wrong with that? Social Security was never designed to support a long, fun, and vacation
filled retirement.

HORRAY FOR YOU!!

Why can't people see that? Was SS set up as a retirement program?

Why should I get SS? Because I paid in? I certainly won't need it. (and that the self-employed) Better to just have forced IRA's or the like.

It would be better, for example, if nobody that had an after tax retirement income of 30 grand or more (just to be arbitrary) got a cent. Then, everyone would pay a substantially lower tax rate, and we could go to bed knowing that SS works as the safety net it was ( I thought) designed to be. (Kicking the elderly off the sidewalk gets really tiresome, ya know).

There. That outta rile'em on BOTH sides of da fence.

B.

What's wrong with it is that people are paying into the system as an insurance. It's a sham. It's quite ironic that smokers are probably subsidizing the rest of us since they die before they collect.
