Not much ... but when I can get a P2 for 1/5 or 1/6 the price I paid for my 486, I'll probably upgrade.

Tim, I never had a 486. But there is nothing PII could do that I want to do that the older Pentium is not already doing. The point is, we heard the same story about Burst Edo and SDRAM and are now hearing it about Rambo and systems on a potato chip. Doesn't matter. If DRAM is not so cheap that the mfrs. make no money, the boxes get too expensive for anyone to buy. There simply isn't enough new stuff to get anyone excited. In fact, nobody has said a word about anything vital and new that Rambus can do. It's faster. So, what? Secretaries still can't type faster. Sure, there will be a few nerds and engineers and so on who will buy any slight uptick in capability, but those folks don't move a market. SDRAM never made money and I doubt Rambus will either.

>>>>What can you do with P2 that you can't do with 486?<<<

Try running NT on a 486.... I'm running NT at work on a P133 and slloooooowwww she goes....

"Time for a new processor?" I agree with Intel's adverts. Just upgraded my processer on my home system and the responsiveness is worth it.
