Paul, I suspect the reporter(certainly a low tech...in such a job?) made an error. It is a maroon who sees that as a strike at AMD.

There is also the chance that there is an internal nomenclature at AMD for prototypes, and possibly the K7 prototype is named a P7? and that reporter actually got some news?

That reminds me after NASA went to the moon, and it was walked on the first time and a flawless return ensued, as the first ever moon walking man stepped down from the return chopper, Kosygin(or whoever was in power in the USSR) said "trip!! trip!!"

In the same manner you sieze upon the tiniest flaw, even those not of AMD's doing and yell "trip" and mighty Intel, your hero, can do no wrong and the grossest errors made by Intel are papered over.
