Insiders selling asnd :

"Who has networking's inside track?
It doesn't look like insiders at Ascend Communications (ASND) are
planning to sell their company to Lucent Technologies (LU) anytime
soon, even though rumors of some kind of combination between the
two companies are a staple of Wall Street chatter. Ascend's name
keeps coming up whenever analysts opine that Lucent needs to make a
big purchase of a major Web networking company in order to compete
head-to-head with Cisco Systems. But nine Ascend insiders sold almost
500,000 shares in November -- including a 100,000-share sale by the
company's CEO.
That's a big increase from October, when insiders
sold just 66,000 shares. No insider sold in August or September. It's
unlikely, I think, that insiders would be heavy sellers if they were
planning a deal that could get them a big acquisition premium on their
holdings.
