This is an amazing price for a company (Narrative) that had $250k in revenue for 1997 and anticipates $750k in revenue in 1998. Narrative has been around for a couple of years. The early positioning was to take CDROM content created with Macromedia Director and put it on-line. Didn't work. It then turned to making banner advertising more effective, but that did not seem to work out either. $89 million. Shows that acquisitions of Internet companies can have valuations just as "out there" as the Internet IPOs and the Internet stocks. Must be a happy holiday season for some of the Narrative VC's and stockholders.....
