Clinton is the only President in history that has argued that he should be censured.


Not only that, censure was tried once and it failed. I believe Jackson was censured and he lobbied the next Congress and they reversed it. No doubt the Supremes would have found it unconstitutional had they been given a chance.

Therefore, censure is not a solution. It is a desperate diversion.

Just to be clear, impeachment is not a crime, impeachment is a political act. Impeachment can be passed regardless of a pardon. If the senate votes to remove the President then he is removed. Right then! The next President can choose to pardon either then or later. That does not make the original person President again. Once he is removed he is removed. He does not go directly to jail or pay $200.

Any criminal actions related or not to the impeachment are a separate matter. The new President can choose to pardon or not.
