But are they though? At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I always thought that a BTB of less than one implied continuing erosion of the backlog. People are dancing in the streets because the rate of decline is slowing, but it is still declining!

Please, can the more knowledgeable posters help me with this?

My point is that bookings and shipments are both down 40-50% over the last year, when AMAT was trading about 20% lower than it is now. What is wrong with this picture?
