It will be interesting to see if a major brokerage house steps up and recommends/buy/sell, raises or lowers WCII. You would think that something should happen with the news. Does anyone know the timing on the potential Government order?? Any bets on where we will end up on Monday--------UP?? or DOWN??

SB, GB and all,

1. Very unlikely that the authorities would do anything here. Look at all the other big aups and downs these days.

2. The truth is that although the recent movement is very very welcome and confidence building I don't think we should really expect a sustained upward move until say Q3 99. Nice to have what there has been and I think it puts a bottom on the stock of say $33/34.

3. The volatility is I think due to there being a body of people who just make a living out of buying and selling WCII. They don't believe in its sustainability over say $37 and therefore it is unlikely to close above that level till the back end of next year.

4. If 3. aabove is true then all you need to do is to put orders in accordingly. Not that I did but what is perfectly possible is to put in an order to buy say apr 30 puts if the stock goes over $38 or $39. You know for certain now that it won't close over $38 so you've bought some insurance and can trade the options.

5. Market timing the stock itself is in my view impossible bu the options offer an easier route.

Regards,

L

Danny Zito at Legg Mason came out with some comments about 3:20 regarding setback in ebidta breakeven point. Stock started to give ground around then. Add in some daytraders getting out prior to the weekend and runup from 27 at beginning of month (50% in two+ weeks) = profit taking.

Hang in there - More good news to come between now and quarterly conference call.

The issue is as follows. Until approximately 3:25 pm, the volume was 4.8M and the stock price was 40 plus or minus a quarter. On the remaining 900K, the price dropped to 35 3/4 before recovering to 36 9/16 .
I've been playing the market for quite a while so I've seen a lot, but this type of action is new to me. I don't buy the momentum theory nor the fact that the buyers just went puff. Why didn't the sellers go puff? The business about the weekend coming up is also bologna.
My feeling is that the situation with the shorters remains unresolved. Until that massive number of shorts does not decrease, this stock has an upward limit that it will not break. It is also painfully obvious that the shorters are very, very powerful, not little fish like we.
