From Rich Karlgaard, Publisher Forbes "Digital Rules" Column

Dec 28, 1998 p43. Sub titled "Coming Soon - Cyber co-ops"

"The story of the year has to be Amazon.com, and not just because of it's $10.5 billion market cap. Amazon is the first shining ray of the new commercial millennium-a pure Web play, fleeting as a shooting star, unburdened by any legacy baggage at all. It's the shape of business in the next century.....

What Amazon signals, I think, is the location and climatic conditions inside tomorrow's big arena of business competition. It's not what it used to be. Nor is the bettor's favorite always who you think it is. A new type of player has emerged, looking like a scruffy underdog..."

...................................................................

If Ampex places itself in this vortex, the it becomes a front name, an innovator and a cog all at the same time. Too many bright minds and too many innovators for any one to spoil it. Keep an open mind and allow some patience for the pieces to be announced and to come into play. If there is an IPO as some poster speculations led to, there may even be a quiet period which will further exasperate shareholders.

Everyone must keep an open mind and allow some patience for the pieces to be announced and to come into play.
