Robert there arent any good republican women. Even if they did applaud it means nothing - for the most part the women in the republican party are just stooges for the men. The best examples of this are Arianna Huffington and Mary Bono. These are not real working women, and yet they try to speak for them... the republicans pass them off as leaders when they are not. Its the old Debi Coleman syndrome. Anyway I think the best hope for the republicans now is that they choose a woman for speaker... chances are fewer that she will have had a number of affairs in the double-digits.

Where are the moderate Republican voices? Well, they all have succumbed to the diktat from their boss, DeLay. Unfortunately, a lot of them will lose their seats the next time around because the reason why they got elected in the first place was their "moderate" tag. Now, they've lost that too! The Republican Party, devoid of its moderates, will spiral more and more inward until it has the support of only the most extreme, fanatical, bigoted elements. However, they wouldn't be able to keep it going for long. A few stunning defeats in the elections will shock the party back to facing reality. And as I was saying earlier, there is no way that one can compress a few stunning defeats into just a mid-term election reversal -- a mere reversal is not enough to teach them the lessons that they ought to learn, and that should be amply clear to all of us by now!
