Scott S, Boy do we have some good seats for the next couple years in CUBE stock. Perused the CES site for a few minutes and am sorry that I won't be there in person to see it. Here are some of the things that they'll have.. Quick. There's a blank-eyed customer in front of you. Explain as succinctly as possible the concept of a native DTV format, and the need for up- and down- converting. Okay, that's a tough one. Here's an easier one. Explain the differences between DTV, HDTV and SDTV. Do any of these formats require component video, composite video or S-Video inputs? What's progressive scan? The consumer is also considering a DVD player. What's this Divx thing? And what about those other "d" acronyms, DTS and DD? Does that DVD player play DVD Audio discs? What is DVD Audio anyway? Is it the same as HDDC? Will they play CD-R or CD-RW discs? Once you get past those Jeopardy-like queries, your consumer wants to know if they should wait for HDTV or buy that analog 60-inch projection set they've had their eye on...... CES, recognizing the unprecedented flood of new technologies, has grouped the most revolutionary advancements into a series of Pavilions. In the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) you'll find: 1394 Pavilion, connecting you to the new interconnectivity standard for all forms of digital video, including DTV; Antenna Pavilion, which pulls in the details on the innovative CEMA Antenna Mapping Program that will make it easy for consumers to know what antenna they'll need to receive terrestrial and satellite DTV signals; David Coursey's Digital Living Room, which gathers all the disparate digital entertainment and home office technologies into one shag-carpeted environment; Home Security Pavilion, which is the safest place to lock in the details on the latest in home automation and security options; Speech Technology Pavilion, translating all the information on all the voice and speech recognition systems capturing consumers' interest; and, Emerging Technologies Pavilion, spotlighting growth companies and their next-generation technologies. Anybody from this thread going to be there?
