OmniTrader doesn't include data.

The two data sources to look at are

TC2000 stockfinder.com and

Quotes Plus qp2.com

Either of those alone would be enough to get started, they include basic charting and scanning. TC2000 works well with OmniTrader.
Metastock is best if you want to build custom indicators and systems and does great charting.

If you are new to TA, then I'd suggest starting with QP or TC, (I prefer TC2000) Once you're comfortable with one of those, you'll be better able to judge which features of MetaStock, OmniTrader, Wow etc. are important to you.

Equis Metastock equis.com

OmniTrader nirv.com

I know I didn't completely answer your questions, but...

All of the tools we're talking about are very good, but none does everything you might want to do. There's also quite a bit of overlap in what they can do.

If I could only choose one, I'd start with TC2000 and build from there.
