Alski, while SWC does produce some platinum, its primary product is palladium (about 20/80). It is the pd production that makes Stillwater such a wonderful play. Demand for pd outstrips currently produced supply by about 2 million oz yearly. The shortfall is made up from Russian stockpiles which will be exhausted within two years, by most accounts. Pd is used primarily in autocasts, catalitic converters, and electronics. The demand is pretty much inelastic. The stock has been down over the past year do to a poor hedge contract on pd. This contract will be completed this quarter. SSB has a price target of 55 for next year.
