I feel like Maurice (when he wakes up in his time zone, and sees that a zillion posts have appeared while he was out of touch). I had not checked for new posts in several hours, figuring the weekend was already here ...

Wow ! Perry LaForge posting on SI. This is great.

Just hope you can still get some work done.

Jon.

Perry, China too sensitive for here? No, not at all. We discuss nearly everything. Please feel free to go right ahead.

If you don't want to have a go at that, how about a less impossible name than cdma2000 for Joe Public to get their mouth around. In NZ, people took years to get half an idea that it is "GSM". And they don't know what it means or stands for. A zilch from a marketing point of view other than "It's digital" which people think is not too bad.

What do you think of 'WWeb'?

PS: The thread I believe achieved a record number [108] of posts Dec 18, while zooming past 20,000. Long posts too! The 20,000th post referred to NTT and the others saying they want a unitary 3G standard and it is time for L M Ericsson and Q! to make it happen. On the same day, L M Ericsson announced further troubles for next year. Perry LaForge showed up in the village and Gregg gave 'whatoh' to the GSM baddies. Tero popped in. Ramsey made a brief visitation.

The sun was out. I bought 3 Alcatel GSM handsets to go with the soon to be defunct overpriced GSM network. What a nice day.

The Fun has Begun!

Q! dropped to $50 to celebrate.

Perry,

You've opened the door and everyone is clamoring to get inside so I feel obligated to contribute my .02cents to the deluge. Your tip of the hat makes me wonder who else is listening in on our effervescent conversation. It must be rather humorous sometimes, witnessing the contortions we go through trying to make sense of what's going on. It's nice to know that we're not alone out here in cyberspace, whispering sweet nothings in eachothers ears, and in a very meaningful way the presence of people like you and Gregg Powers, to single out a few, makes our discussion feel more relevant. Thanks for stepping in and I hope you don't live to regret it.

I just have a couple of questions. There's no need to explain when you feel a response would jeopardize in any way your responsibilities to CDG. We have crossed this bridge many times with Gregg and understand the meaning of silence.

Sometimes I think the atmosphere around here gets a little too clubby. We run into few antagonists of consequence. Are there other sites/conversations on the web that we know nothing about, which would aid us in the pursuit of knowledge and controversy, sites that people in the know such as yourself might be paying attention to? Also, we would greatly benefit from an archive of relevant public domain technical documents that people like Walt and Clark could stick their noses into if they so choose.

Welcome aboard and Happy Holidays……Dave

Perry,

thanks for posting some very valuable information. Regarding China, while I understand the sensitivity, I am also curious as to what is holding up Great Wall today. PLA supposedly has transfered most of their commercial stuff already. I don't think it is top secret as to who owns the portion of Great Wall previously owned by PLA and what do they intend to do with it?

Changing subject. It will be very interesting to see if QC's stock price reacts positively to your posts this weekend. I have often wondered how influential these forums may be and how many people read them, professionals as well as individuals.
