Pat, I agree that more polygons= more good :) In the case of next-evolution chips, I think speed/fill rate will be good speed at 1024 or 1280...the excess speed goes to resolution, which I think is nice. RE: Triangles- I think we are developer-limited here :) So any hype there seems a waste at the moment, which brings us to the Intel-Quantum query: what is the killer application that will require more processing power, hard disk space, or, for us, triangle setup, etc? The problem is that our hardware is outrunning the software. Sure, graphics hardware has a long way to go, but where are the apps that push it? Quake2 and Unreal based FPS aren't pushing us (and 32bpp ground up games won't do us much good either...).

Unfortunately, Q3 seems to be the next big app- both in popularity and for hardware obsolescence. Remember, Quake1/2 made TDFX....the hard core online gamers like Chip brought us to the top. If GMB is correct , and TDFX is not as competitive as other cards at Q3A, then things ain't so good. Unfortuantely, I have the feeling that Ballard and Co. are thinking, "yeah, maybe it won't be the best for Q3, but hey, we signed Dell!"...perhaps, from an investment standpoint, this would be a good thing...I don't know...
