Thread,

Have several books from the library on options - including the Options as a strategic investment and am reading through them now. Still not sure how to price them but am working on that. I particularly like the idea of selling calls on positions I currently own but wouldn't mind exiting the equity position. (Is this what you call a "covered call"?)

Here's a few questions I have.

Any broker recommendations? I use Datek for my stocks and love their interface, but they don't do options of any kind AFAIK. Keeping with the spirit of 90/10 I will only devote a very small portion of funds to this endeavor, especially while I'm learning. (I would use no money and practice on paper, but I've found a little bit of real money makes me focus better, and I don't behave the same way if it's only play money.) With this in mind I need a broker with low to no minimum balance requirements. I prefer an online broker.

Are there any execution issues between different brokers that I should be concerned with? I'm willing to pay more per contract if it means the difference between getting a good price or not on the option.

Anything else I should be concerned with?

Essentially I'm open to suggestions/recommendations.

Thanks.

Shane

It has cost me a lot of lunches and beers. I'm a teetotaler so it gives me an advantage when the evils of alcohol loosen tongues. (g I'm only kidding!)

In fact, the people who actually create new technologies are the salt of the Earth in my opinion, and I've rarely met any that I didn't like. Most are only too happy to boost the understanding of anybody who is genuinely interested in their activities.

Best, Earlie
