Fred I would like to know which OEMs have already adapted the 4x4 size. Your scenario assumes this has already been adapted. Is the current lithion-ion standard or any other battery 4x4? If so that is great. If not then lead time for OEMs has to be built into a model. If on the other hand OEM is not willing or can not make a 4x4 then lead time for VLNC has to be built into the model. I recall from last conference call that Lev suggested this would take 6 months. Therefore I feel more comfortable with a very conservative roll out and ramp up.

>> underestimating manufacturer's desire

You could be absolutely right ... I see that the power circuit people are anticipating new generations of cells in their control chips ... and if there are no packaging issues (?), adoption could be very quick. We'll just have to see.

If we work backward from having sold 750,000 - 3 mln batts, to getting the new models on the shelves, through production cycles, through tooling up to build the new cells into batts, through design, through decision, through analysis, through eval ... well, that's a lot of cycles by different parts of an organization. All this stuff takes time. Everyone has a right to their own guesses. It sure ain't DSL though!

I've seen a lot (more than 50) designs through to consumer widgets in volume production ... if I decided today to put LiPoly in a widget, I think I could be shipping it in 6 months ... 3 months, no.

What's the price comparison? Forsee any pushback on price?

FMK: Of that 270, remember 70 are temporary Henderson folks and are in NI to help with the ramp up. Some are there supposedly for no longer then 6 months with others on a much shorter time frame. With that as a given, I'd suspect that we're probably looking at the first line putting product out on a more then trial basis fairly soon & probably able to fulfill most OEM immediate needs. The logic I'm using is based on the fact that there have been a fair number of the 70 Henderson personnel training the NI people for several weeks already. It would then be assumable, IMO, that it probably would not take more then another 4-6 weeks before they're all up to speed & able to run things without most of the Henderson folks.
All the above based on my visit last week in Henderson....& for those that might have called & checked out my post, there's a Levi distribution center two blocks away & the Christmas tree in the office foyer wasn't trimmed last Thursday.
Keeping the faith,
Dennis
