This quality problem has been noted, however I'm not sure what the current status is since hardly anyone cares about GTW anymore. I did a very rough back of the envelope calculation and estimated that this backlog problem represented about 2.6 days of Q3 sales, or about $52 million. A fair chunk of sales.

I'm not sure what "lackluster shipments" in Oct and Nov really means, lackluster to plan? What was plan? How much were the Country Stores supposed to kick in? My backlog estimate assumes it normally takes 10 days from receipt of the order to shipping out the door. Now how is this problem being fixed? If it was completely taken care of in Oct that should have resulted in a big bump in sales 2.6 days / 31 days =~ 8.4%. You can toss the numbers around but drawing too fine a point could be dangerous.

I think we should take the lackluster comment at face value meaning sales to date are crummy. And product quality is/was iffy, not a positive sign. It is really tough to figure out prospectively what these guys are doing since they give so many mixed signals and I still don't think they have learned to focus and execute.

In the end none of this matters anyway. If the analysts want to pump the stock it will go up. End of story.

Regards, Ice
