Absolutely right! That's why very very few people including Buffet can beat index. Look at Rydex which mimics Nasdaq 100. I'm about to surrender to the index funds.

Thanks for your reply on PSFT. But I'm a little dense sometimes<g>, and can't figure out if you like it or not. In scanning SI posts for PSFT, I came across one of yours from last week where you were looking to maybe buy some PFST. Did you buy? I did. And, well, I'm not sure that was smart. I usually don't buy a company's stock unless I know more about the company, because it's too hard on the nerves. But every once in a while,.... ah, well.

The reason for my original post, but which I didn't but should've spelt out, is that LastShadow had indicated one day last week to look at PSFT because it might be basing. I'm curious to know if its subsequent steady but small declines show that it is still basing, or that it is just a stock going down.
