< We know there was much more written by many people concerning Jesus. The problem is much was written to mislead and smear the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I do believe that the protestant bible that I read is the inspired word of God sent by God to us through His true servant's. God has preserved that body of writing intact and it is what He wants to use to reveal Himself. So I rely on that and don't use any other writings. Many Christians do know Him, but not in a way that you would understand. The protestant bible is sufficient to bring the real Jesus to anyone. And to know Him is to have Him in your heart, and to know that He is there for real.> Well, one of the things we know is that the Gnostics lost out to the Christians who believed in the concept of Trinity at the Council of Nicea, and that there was lots of bloodshed. Why is there a belief that Trinity comes down to us like a lightening bolt from God, if it was a new idea in the first few hundred years of Christianity, and was heatedly debated? It seems much more like one faction won out over another, than anything at all being the inspired word of God. What is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ? Why do the Gospels of Mark, Paul, Luke and John all disagree to some extent? I believe it is because each of these writers was writing from his own culture, trying to tell the "good news" about Jesus over quite a long period of time. Certainly, there is nothing inspired by God unless it all agrees exactly, however. Wouldn't God tell just the exact truth? What about Phillip's and Thomas's gospels, discovered in 1945 at Nag Hammadi? From what I gather, they were probably hidden in earthen pots in caves during the ideological fight between the Gnostics and the believers in Trinity. Some of Jesus' sayings seem to be much earlier, more varied, and purer than the later rewritings. So it would seem to me that these are closer to the word of God, if we assume that what Jesus REALLY said is holier than the later rehashes. How can you say that God has preserved the body of writing intact? Because of debates among early Christians as to what should actually go into the Bible, mistranslations, and the fact that not all religions even have the same books in their Bibles, how could it be? Are you saying that God wants to reveal himself differently to different sects? Why can't everyone just be happy believing whatever it is that makes sense to them privately, instead of proclaiming it the TRUTH, and denigrating others because they believe a different way? Why is the Bible used to oppress entire groups of people? It doesn't make sense to me that God or Jesus would like that. I don't think most Christians have an iota of knowledge of the real beliefs of the person we call Jesus.
