No doubt CSCO will outperform Lucent over the next five years.
However, for diversity sake I like Lucent as well. Up until
two months ago in October, LU was prohibited from utilizing
any of its stock to make acquisitions after being freed from
AT&T's bureaucracy two years back. Like Cisco in 1999, when
Chambers will making an additional 5 to 15 moves, expect to
see Lucent become very aggressive as well in the purchase
arena.
