Roger,

You should avoid listing your short picks in the thread description. You can give a link to a portfolio - this way people can see your current short positions.

Regards.
Rajiv

Roger, my pick is EBAY. If ebay drops below $70 before the new year (fat chance <g>), I'll nominate AMZN.

Regards,

Tom

I will submit the safest pick for not only 1999 but probably the next twenty years: The Republican party. Their proving rate just dropped to a 30-year low level, 38% in the recent poll. Should gap down next Monday and there will be no short squeeze in the near future because of its dog status.

EBAY has no chance to drop below 200 before New Year, let alone 70. This issue is benefiting greatly from an extremely tight float and a crazy high level short interest. The internet stocks will ride higher within the next 3-4 weeks on the strong earning report. Guess that they will begin to fade away in April after people are disappointed with the slow or negative Q over Q revenue growth. Bottomline is, shorting internet stocks has proven suicide pills to short sellers in 98 and will continue to do so in 99 for some time until something triggered a dramatic sentiment change toward this whole sector.

larry!

Roger...

My pick is AMZN but one might need deep pockets and guts to withstand the ups and downs. I actually would not short right away as I think it will more than likely hit 325 or so before reality begins to set in. My guess is the end of January.
