Speaking of synapses, Gauguin was talking the other day about fractals attracting his attention like wool to a screen or some such, I was at Office Depot this evening buying a scanner, had both kids with me, and the computers were all showing some fractal screensaver program. Ben, my older, the one I think has ADD, was absolutely mesmerized. I was too, I must admit. After it was fractals, it was a rock, a scissors and a piece of paper duking it out. I lost interest and wandered off to take care of what business, and later wandered by and he was staring mesmerized at a screensaver that looked like a cross between cows and clouds. After I checked out, I called to him to come on, and he reluctantly left the bank of monitors, explaining that he thought it would do something else soon.

I have a suspicion that I have a tough row to hoe.
