> Any takers on what the "real story" will be in 50 years?

In 50 years from now we will have the following as the top news story:

1. Once again a Republican presidential candidate lost to a Democrat! Many people may not remember, but the last Republican president elected was back in 1988 - over 50 years ago. His name was George Bush.

2. The new elected president in his winnisg speech said: "I just hope I could follow the foot steps of great leaders such as William Jefferson clinton who paved the path for a glorious America in the 21st century.".

3. Once again a handful of Nazis disguised under the Republican party candidates were caught planning to overthrow the government of the United States!

re: Why do people go to bull fights? Because sometimes the bull wins!!!

Wrong! Sometimes the bull sticks a torero, but there are always others to do the job. No case on record where the bull disables or kills all of the bullfighters. Pity.

Slickie's future speeches:

1.- "Thank you. It's a pleasure to be with you tonight. Here's a joke my ex-wife won't like: Why did Hillary always like to mess around very early in the morning? [Pause] She wanted to be the first lady."

2.- "Hey, how about that Bob Livingston, huh? He gets caught playing Hide-and-Gavel and has the honor and decency to resign. I say, give that man a cigar."

From: Bill's Next Gig by Tony Kornheiser, The Washington Post,
December 20, Page F1.

>>Any takers on what the "real story" will be in 50 years?<<

Sure; in fifty years Clinton will be remembered as one of our best Presidents, and the impeachment hearings will be listed right next to McCarthyism as one of the black spots on our history.

The Republicans are accomplishing two things and two things only with this vendetta. One, they are ensuring that the number of people who'll vote a straight Democratic ticket in all future elections will dramatically rise, if not double. And two, they are forever ruining their reputation as a political party.

I personally will never again have any respect for someone who allies himself with the Republican party. Any man worth his salt would break his allegiance and go independent. The Republicans have shown their true colors, and the history books will record those colors. And they're not pretty.

>>Just a theory of mine; Question: Why do people go to bull fights? Because sometimes the bull wins!!!I believe that people have fixed on the wounded and bleeding president with the assurance that this "bull" does not want to go without taking a few more "fighters" with him."<<

I have a different theory about bull fights, not nearly so positive as yours (though I like your take on it). Many people, I believe, go to bull fights because they get a thrill out of seeing death and destruction. These are the same people who slow down to gape at car accidents; the same people who used to relish public hangings. Most of the citizens screaming for Clinton's impeachment don't know a thing beyond what the headlines of the local paper tell them. But the idea of seeing a powerful, intelligent man destroyed exhilirates their small, pathetic minds. The fairness or rightness of it is immaterial to them, and they would never bother to ascertain either.
