Gulf of Mexico rig count increases

HOUSTON: The U.S. Gulf offshore rig count increased by seven since last
week
, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig
count.

This week, 136 of the 178 mobile offshore drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico
are under contract. U.S. Gulf offshore rig utilization is 76.4 percent.

The European offshore rig count declined compared to one week ago,
although the region's utilization rate increased because the overall fleet size
declined as well. Today, 101 of the 107 mobile offshore drilling rigs in the
area are under contract, and European offshore rig utilization is 94.4
percent.

Worldwide, 521 of 611 mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract, a net
increase of five rigs compared to one week ago. Worldwide offshore rig
utilization is 85.3 percent.
