OK, maybe I was just infected with the same holiday spirit shown by the House of Representatives yesterday. <G>

So let's see if I can present the bull case for the third tier:

1. Tax loss selling is nearly over.

2. Some valuations are compelling, with some good stocks trading near book.

3. Long and medium term pipelines are still pretty thin at some of the big pharmas like MRK and the big bios like AMGN.

4. The bear attacks on the newly profitable second tier like AGPH and PGNS have been successfully repulsed. While these stocks were sick, there was little incentive to look further back in the development cycle. Now they are doing well and are no longer screaming bargains, people will surely start looking at the earlier stage companies as well.

5. For companies that have the financial strength to survive, good science will ultimately win out and produce some 10-baggers.

Peter
