Okay, here is an update...it may clarify the earlier post.
The bank has a contract to receive 2,500 - 5,000 PCs per week from DELL ...this was the first shipment of approximately 4,000 PCs ...

This was a Year 2000 project that involves the countries top 5 banks.

The BIOS in these machines supposedly is a special BIOS that will not allow users/clients to access it. It was not in the PCs.
According to my brother who was involved in installing these PCs, they would not power up because of this...he also mentioned that many came with CDs that weren't supposed to(this is HARDLY a problem!). He mentioned that they were delayed for 2-3 days waiting for Dell to them to get Dell Certified Contractors to come out and fix the problems.

It is my understanding that the problem has been corrected in shipments since then and I guess the wrench in the works was the different type of BIOS.

The only thing DELL has to work on in this matter is that the upper management chose not to switch the servers from Compaq to Dell :-(

So, that's the scoop. I'm sure it happens to the best of companies, especially when they are so busy!

We should be happy the bank chose Dell...I'm sure they won't let them get away!!
