Sunday December 20 1:17 PM ET Quick Pick-Up of IPO Issuance Seen In '99 By Holly Rosenkrantz NEW YORK (Reuters) - While the Christmas and New Year holidays will slow the new issues market in the next few weeks, a quick resumption is seen in January as underwriters strive to make up for the sharp decline of late 1998. ''Instead of the usual slow January, we'll see an early pick-up,'' said David Menlow, president of IPO Financial Network. ''There were some huge drops in income from underwriting this year, and they'll want to take advantage of momentum that has been generated recently,'' he said. Ultimately, not every Wall Street underwriter was significantly bruised by the drop-off in initial public offerings in the late summer and early autumn that echoed the broader stock market's decline. dailynews.yahoo.com
