Bernie; Do you really believe our government gives two sh..ts about the Iraqi people. All they care about is getting a government there that follows US orders. Iraqi says thousands of casualties in attack WASHINGTON, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Iraq's ambassador to the United Nations said on Sunday that U.S. and British attacks on Iraq killed or wounded thousands of people. ''There has been enormous damage, mainly to the civilian infrastructure and to human life. I am told the casualties are in thousands, in terms of people who were killed or wounded, but we don't have any final figures,'' Nizar Hamdoon told CNN. Hamdoon said Iraq would ask the U.N. Security Council to lift immediately the economic sanctions imposed after it invaded Kuwait in 1990. ''We think we deserve that,'' he said. It will argue that the lack of poisonous gases from the U.S. air raids showed that it was not developing chemical or biological weapons, the ambassador added. Hamdoon repeated the Iraqi position that Iraq can no longer work with the chief U.S. arms inspector, U.N. Special Commission Chairman Richard Butler. ''I don't think there is any possibility (of that),'' he said. ''Butler was coordinating and conspiring together with the people in the (U.S.) administration here to try to bomb Iraq and to provide the pretext for that,'' he said.
