Thread: here is Ebay's short interest for November 1998, the first month during which shorting the stock was possible. Short: 1.362M shares. Daily average volume: 3M shares. Float: 3.5M shares. Days to cover: about .45.

This compares to Amazon's November 1998 short interest. Short: 7.402M shares. Daily average volume: 3.373M shares. Float: 20.6M. Days to cover: about 2.19.

Comparing the November trading volume/float/shorting of the two companies, Ebay was a much more actively traded stock relative to float, but only 1/4 as many of Ebay's trades were shorts, relative to Amazon's. Conclusion: lot's of trading in Ebay in November, but mostly buying.

Given the increased postings to this thread this past week, and with it the debut of posters negative on the stock, anyone want to estimate ebay's short interest for December?
